About Us

Silver Whiskers Petsitting provides in-home care and mid-day outings for your pets in the Fairfax area.

My pets are my family, and I started Silver Whiskers Petsitting to provide peace of mind to those of us who place a higher priority on making sure our pets will be properly cared for while we're away than we do on packing our own bags for vacation. I know how hard it is to leave them behind, and I can guarantee you that I'll be doing my absolute best to keep them happy and healthy when you're gone.

I spend quality time earning trust and forming bonds with your pets, playing with and pampering them, and establishing a routine that will provide them comfort and security in your absence. I'll provide any and all special care they may need, and I’ve completed the American Red Cross Pet First Aid training.

I'll keep you informed about how they're doing via daily texts, photos and detailed handwritten notes. Animals and birds have been my passion for as long as I can remember, and they can sense that devotion.

After Silver Whiskers reached its 10-year milestone in 2019, I teamed up with my friend and fellow petsitter, Joan Cuddeback, who shares my commitment and dedication to animals. Joan has helped to increase availability and enriches Silver Whiskers by bringing her experience with animal care and dog training as well as expanding our services to include overnight petsitting.

Joan has completed two semesters of Veterinarian Assistant classes offered by Fairfax County’s Adult Community Education. She has taken care of my pets for many years and has proven time and time again to be not only reliable, but extremely compassionate, kind and careful with the diverse needs of our 10 pets. (My husband, John, and I have a family of five birds, two dogs and three cats!) I feel very fortunate to have Joan working with me.

Dave Egelhofer, the newest member of the Silver Whiskers team, is proudly claimed by two senior cats, George and Waverly, and a 5-year-old dog named Radar (aka: The best dog in the world). Dave recently retired from his full-time career and said he can’t think of better part-time work than spending time with animals. Animals can tell instinctively when they like a person, and their positive responses to Dave proves helpful when it comes to caring for them.

In addition to his compassion for animals, Dave has a passion for music, which was inspired by his late father. Dave plays guitar and piano, and sings. While he chose not to make it his career, he has always been involved with music as a full-time hobby and is currently playing in a band that performs in the DC area.
